We are always looking for new volunteers to join and support the PTA. Every member of our school community is automatically a member of the PTA and we always need new and creative fundraising ideas to raise as much money as possible.
You can support the PTA in a number of ways including:
Attend our termly meetings, announced here and on Facebook
Come to our pre-loved uniform sales and other fundraising events during the year, or volunteer to help run them
Set up a regularly monthly donation
Donate whilst you shop online through EasyFundraising
See if your employer offers ‘match funding’ or ‘match giving’ – schemes where they will match any funding you raise for the PTA
Send us your fundraising ideas!
PTA Chair: The PTA Chair directs your committee’s meetings, making sure everyone’s views are heard, and that everyone is involved in the meeting. The PTA Chair also holds the casting vote where there is a tied vote.
PTA Vice Chair: Being chair is a big responsibility and sometimes the commitment can be too much for one person so it helps when the role is shared.
PTA Secretary: The PTA Secretary supports the PTA committee to build effective communication links between the school and the association. They also maintain accurate records.
PTA Treasurer: The treasurer controls the PTA funds in line with the committee’s decisions as well as charity law. They make sure upcoming events are affordable and profitable and report financial information to the rest of the team.
Volunteers: To be a successful PTA we need volunteers to help run the events, from setting up a stall, face painting, and making props to clearing up. The more volunteers the better - a job shared is a job halved!
The Grants officer: We need someone who has the time to investigate trusts and organisations that might donate money to the school. They will need to research and apply for grants, typically for larger-scale projects such as permanent outdoor shade/outdoor learning classrooms. Working closely with the school and PTA committee to identify funding opportunities, the PTA grants officer applies to grant-giving trusts, local authorities, and businesses for significant financial donations. Writing skills are a must, as the officer will have to complete applications and provide feedback.
Class/Year Reps: An essential role, class reps are the communication channel between the PTA and parents of each class. As such, they’re key in securing volunteers for events and enabling the committee to reach out to the school community with immediacy and directness.
Community Champions: We need help connecting with the community champions at supermarkets like Asda, Sainsbury's, or Tesco. They will have a Community Champion that you can connect with to help with donations for events.
Sporting Heroes: This one is for the athletes. We need someone who will get involved in sponsored swims, walks, hikes, runs, and after-school sports clubs and help raise vital funds for the school.
The Publican: To be our alcohol guru. This person would be the one who is responsible for looking after the alcohol at an event, taking care of necessary licenses, sourcing the booze, and running the bar.
Roadies: Are you strong? If yes then you would be perfect to do the heavy lifting (putting up marquees/ shifting boxes).
DJs/Musicians: To play all those good tunes and help entertain the crows at our events.
Quiz Masters: Are you an extrovert who loves to be center stage, why not host one of our quiz or bingo nights? If you have the banter then we have the crowd for you!
Star Bakers: Are you a secret Delia Smith, do you wish to be the Star Baker on The Great British Bake Off? Why not present your show stoppers at our bake sales?
